Resident Assistant

About This Role

Resident Assistants are student paraprofessionals responsible for fostering a positive residential experience, promoting academic success, personal growth, and transitional life skills among students.

Responsibilities

• Promote a quality residential experience
• Cultivate a sense of belonging among residents
• Encourage academic success and personal growth
• Develop transitional life skills in residents
• Build individual relationships with residential students
• Facilitate peer connections
• Provide appropriate referrals for student support services
• Encourage campus engagement
• Complete necessary administrative processes

Requirements

• Full-time WSU Student Status (12 undergraduate credit hours or 3-6 graduate credit hours per semester)
• Successful completion of at least 1 academic year as a full-time student at a college or university
• Student in Good Standing with University (minimum cumulative and semester GPA of 2.5)
• Good conduct standing with the University and Housing Department
• 1 academic year (or equivalent) of community living experience
• Strong communication, leadership, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to commit to 1 full academic year (10-month year) as a Resident Assistant

Qualifications

• At least 1 academic year of community living experience, 1 academic year as a full-time student

Nice to Have

• Experience in a Mentorship or Leadership role
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Knowledge of Weber State student support services
