Research Scientist

About This Role

The Research Scientist assists a Principal Investigator in a neurosurgical research laboratory, primarily focusing on cleanroom operations for clinical-grade cell manufacturing. This role involves following strict protocols for cell manufacturing, accurate record-keeping, environmental monitoring, and compliance with aseptic procedures to drive scientific study culminating in publication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all aspects of cleanroom operations for clinical-grade cell manufacturing
• Serve as a primary operator and verifier in GMP-compliant cell manufacturing
• Participate in training and qualification activities related to GMP
• Follow strict protocols for cell manufacturing in controlled spaces
• Accurately record procedures and results
• Perform environmental monitoring, sterile gowning, and cleanroom upkeep
• Comply with aseptic manufacturing procedures
• Maintain databases, supplies, and inventory in the lab
• Assist with quality control assays, data analysis, and summaries
• Contribute to the design and execution of experiments and/or research projects

Requirements

• Doctorate degree
• 5-7 years of previous research experience
• Experience with stem cell technology and cell and tissue culture
• Ability to follow strict protocols and accurately record procedures
• Detail-oriented and able to work independently
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Demonstrated evidence of specific scientific competence in field
• Excellent research skills
• Good organizational skills

Qualifications

• Doctorate in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, or a related quantitative field
• 5-7 years of previous research experience, inclusive of graduate and postdoctoral experience
