About This Role

Join the Garbincius lab at the University of Michigan to manage day-to-day operations and contribute to mitochondrial biology research, focusing on heart failure and skeletal muscle disease.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of a molecular biology research laboratory
  • Perform inventory management and order supplies
  • Maintain and organize the laboratory mouse colony (breeding, genotyping, experimental cohorts)
  • Carry out molecular biology experiments
  • Maintain cell cultures
  • Supervise junior laboratory members, including undergraduate assistants
  • Implement and train others in laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
  • Collect and organize data
  • Resolve unexpected problems using independent critical thinking
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with research enterprise members

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with mouse models
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented individual
  • Strong work ethic
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/ Physiology
  • 3-5 years' experience for Research Lab Tech Senior

Nice to Have

  • Prior laboratory experience in cellular and/or molecular biology
  • Prior experience in training and supervising others
  • A two-year minimum commitment
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Cell Biology/ Biochemistry/ Physiology or related field for Associate and Intermediate Level
