Join the Garbincius lab at the University of Michigan to manage day-to-day operations and contribute to mitochondrial biology research, focusing on heart failure and skeletal muscle disease.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of a molecular biology research laboratory
- Perform inventory management and order supplies
- Maintain and organize the laboratory mouse colony (breeding, genotyping, experimental cohorts)
- Carry out molecular biology experiments
- Maintain cell cultures
- Supervise junior laboratory members, including undergraduate assistants
- Implement and train others in laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
- Collect and organize data
- Resolve unexpected problems using independent critical thinking
- Foster and maintain effective working relationships with research enterprise members
Requirements
- Prior experience working with mouse models
- Self-motivated, team-oriented individual
- Strong work ethic
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/ Physiology
- 3-5 years' experience for Research Lab Tech Senior
Nice to Have
- Prior laboratory experience in cellular and/or molecular biology
- Prior experience in training and supervising others
- A two-year minimum commitment
- Bachelor’s Degree in Cell Biology/ Biochemistry/ Physiology or related field for Associate and Intermediate Level
