About This Role

This Postdoctoral Fellowship offers early-career research investigators intensive, hands-on training in pharmacoepidemiology and pain/opioid outcomes research to improve pain care, opioid stewardship, and substance use treatment. The fellow will gain expertise in data analysis, causal inference, and comparative effectiveness research, contributing to ongoing projects and preparing for an independent academic career.

Responsibilities

  • Actively contribute to ongoing research projects led by faculty mentors
  • Participate in all stages of the scientific process, from idea generation to manuscript preparation
  • Conduct data analysis and interpretation
  • Prepare manuscripts for submission to high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, researchers, policy experts, and analysts
  • Engage in regular training program activities including seminars and forum discussions
  • Present and share research findings in project/team meetings and scientific conferences
  • Clarify a research focus and build an individualized career development plan

Requirements

  • Completed a doctoral degree program (MD, PhD, DrPH, PharmD, or equivalent) by the starting date
  • Demonstrated commitment to pharmacoepidemiology, health services, or outcomes research
  • Proficiency in quantitative analysis of claims, EHR, or administrative datasets using SAS, Stata, or R
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and interest in policy-relevant, real-world evidence generation
  • A strong desire to work with multi-disciplinary collaborators
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for working in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
  • Ability to commit to a full-time professional effort based in Ann Arbor, Michigan for up to two years
  • Eligible applicants must be citizens, noncitizen nationals, or permanent residents of the U.S.
