The Research Fellow will engage in postdoctoral research within the Urinary Dynamics and Ultrasound (UDUS) Research Group and the Michigan Institute for Imaging Technology and Translation (MIITT) at the University of Michigan, focusing on advancing the understanding of urinary tract physiology and its disorders through ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging. The role involves working on an NIH-funded project to develop quantitative, image-based biomarkers for the lower urinary tract and contributing to various research initiatives leveraging imaging and computational methods in urology.
Responsibilities
- Conduct ultrasound data collection and analysis (70% of effort)
- Prepare conference abstracts and manuscripts (30% of effort)
- Contribute to an NIH-funded, multi-institutional project developing image-based biomarkers
- Participate in research initiatives leveraging imaging and computational methods in urology
- Collaborate with academic institutions and industry partners in translational research
Requirements
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- Strong background in medical image analysis and signal processing
- Proficiency in programming, particularly in Python
- Demonstrated ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals
- Motivated, self-driven, and able to work independently and within a team
- Excellent problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of the physics of ultrasound and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging modalities
