This full-time postdoctoral scholar position in the Department of Radiology at the University of Michigan involves conducting research in nuclear medicine imaging and dosimetry, including clinical trials for radiopharmaceutical therapies. The fellow will benchmark radiation dosimetry algorithms, perform patient-specific calculations, and contribute to novel NIH and industry-sponsored projects.
Responsibilities
- Benchmark, validate, and adapt radiation dosimetry algorithms developed at Michigan and by industry collaborators
- Develop code for data analysis
- Perform patient specific dosimetry calculations and analysis for research projects
- Contribute to clinical dosimetry protocols
- Contribute to novel research projects sponsored by NIH and industry, including dose escalation trials and therapies with alpha emitters
- Present research findings at conferences and prepare manuscripts for publication
- Contribute to experimental measurements in the nuclear medicine clinic for research purposes
- Contribute to developing improved SPECT/CT and PET/CT image segmentation and reconstruction methods, including AI-based methods
- Manage lab activities, contribute to patient recruitment and regulatory processes
- Pursue own lines of inquiry (e.g., NIH K Award)
Requirements
- PhD in medical physics, nuclear engineering, or other engineering or physics disciplines
- Experience working with medical images
- Very good computer programming skills
- Strong physics background
Qualifications
- PhD in medical physics, nuclear engineering or other engineering or physics disciplines, or medical degrees with relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Nuclear medicine imaging/dosimetry experience
- Experience in image reconstruction
- Experience with Artificial Intelligence in medical imaging
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulation in medical imaging
