About This Role

The Remote Kitchen Helper maintains sanitation standards, cleans, and performs various food preparation, stocking, and serving duties in a commercial kitchen of a remote camp location on a seasonal, rotational schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist cooks and coordinate activities within a food service area
  • Prepare food and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats
  • Maintain products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas
  • Stock various food service areas with products and materials
  • Clean and organize dishes, utensils, pots, and pans in assigned storage areas
  • Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment
  • Clean, sweep, and wipe down general dining, kitchen, storage areas, spike rooms, and equipment
  • Assist with periodically scheduled large cleaning projects
  • Remove garbage from assigned areas
  • Set up, break down, and clean tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines
  • Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in a commercial kitchen or documented vocational training
  • Ability to obtain an Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification upon hire
  • Ability to pass all pre-employment contract requirements including drug test, physical, fit for duty assessment, and hearing test
  • Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to be on feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation
  • Ability to live in dormitory style settings and meet cleanliness requirements of the remote camp
  • Ability to speak, understand, read and write English
  • Ability to meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in a commercial kitchen or documented vocational training
