Food Service Worker

About This Role

The Food Service Worker provides essential meal services within the Juneau School District, assisting with food preparation, serving nutritious meals, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment. This role supports the daily nutritional needs and well-being of the school community.

Responsibilities

• Clean dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and work areas; maintain cleanliness of dining and storage areas.
• Stock supplies and maintain proper inventory levels in prep, serving, or storage areas.
• Assist with food preparation, cooking, and serving of meals as needed.
• Set up and break down service areas, tables, snack bars, and serving lines.
• Remove trash and participate in scheduled deep-cleaning projects.
• Support cooks and other staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Requirements

• Knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment
• Ability to speak, understand, read and write English

Nice to Have

• Six (6) months' experience in the food service or janitorial industry
• At least one (6) month of work experience or documented vocational training in cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes
