This role supports the Department of War's Communications Security (COMSEC) office, assisting users with COMSEC materials and ensuring compliance with national policies. The assistant manager will operate accounting systems, manage cryptographic equipment, and provide training.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the COMSEC Manager to support Department of War (DoW) users with COMSEC material
- Operate the Distributed INFOSEC Accounting System (DIAS) and Key Management Infrastructure (KMI)/Management Client (MGC) for the DoW organization
- Assist the COMSEC Manager to ensure processes meet national policy and procedures by issuing, inventorying, and taking accountability of cryptographic equipment and keying material
- Assist DoW and Local Elements (LE) by responding to COMSEC queries, requests for assistance, and providing subject matter expertise
- Conduct reviews of DoW COMSEC Standard operating procedures in accordance with DoD, National Security Agency, and federal standards
- Operate the KMI for the DoW organization and conduct inventories and accountability of DoW COMSEC material, providing support for other KMI Operating Account's (KOA) and LEs as needed
- Provide COMSEC training for personnel assigned to the DoW and LE users prior to gaining access to COMSEC material and maintain training records
- Assist the COMSEC Manager with conducting inventories to ensure semi-annual inventory, reports, and COMSEC Emergency Action Plans adhere to National Security Agency (NSA) criteria
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in the COMSEC discipline
- Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
- Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Course completion
- Current COMPTIA Security +CE (or higher) certification
- Working knowledge of the U.S. Government Security and National Security Agency (NSA) Programs
- Skills in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating security programs to meet mission requirements in the COMSEC disciplines
- Excellent written and oral communication and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in the COMSEC discipline
Nice to Have
- Experience working in or with Department of Defense/Department of War organizations
- IAEC-2112 Certification from National Security Agency (NSA)
