Regulatory Inspector

About This Role

Serve as a Regulatory Inspector for the State Board of Cosmetology and Barber Examiners, ensuring compliance with state regulations through inspections and investigations of establishments in Jackson County, MO.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and conduct initial, annual, board directed, random, and follow-up inspections of assigned cosmetology and barber establishments and schools to assure conformity with applicable state laws, rules and regulations
• Verify licensure of professionals and businesses and associated business documentation as it relates to licensure requirements
• Prepare detailed reports of inspection
• Testify at administrative or judicial proceedings regarding inspection procedures and findings
• Receive and refer inquiries from licensees, students, consumers, public officials and the general public to appropriate board personnel

Requirements

• Ability to identify, explain and apply applicable statutes and regulations
• Ability to analyze and prepare clear and detailed reports of findings
• Effective communication skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to multi-task, make routine decisions, organize workflow and independently establish priorities and deadlines

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience as a Customer Service Representative; a licensed professional in an industry regulated by the Division of Professional Registration; or professional or technical experience in business administration, licensing, law enforcement or closely related areas

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of computer applications such as Adobe Acrobat Pro, Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
