About This Role

The Registered Nurse Tier 1 in the ICU provides specialized nursing care based on psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences principles. This role involves collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, offering physical and psychological support to patients and families, and supervising assigned team members and students.

Responsibilities

  • Complete patient assessments, formulate, oversees implementation, evaluate and adjust plan of care utilizing critical thinking skills
  • Perform other nursing acts consistent with American Nursing's Association Standards of Practice or nationally accepted organizations of registered nurses
  • Provide care, counsel health teaching and promotion, utilizing Teach Back methodology
  • Administer medication, intravenous therapy and treatment as prescribed by a LIP
  • Supervise, delegate and follow-through to other personnel in activities relating to nursing care
  • Mentor and precept students and orient new staff as assigned
  • Report pertinent information up chain of command Clinical Nurse Manager/Nurse Manager/House Nurse Coordinator
  • Participate on various teams, committees or performance improvement initiatives
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, coworkers and self
  • Participate in Discharge Planning and Transition of Care (able to define patient needs)

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered Nurse license
  • Advanced Dysrhythmia/EKG certification
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • BLS certification
  • Advanced Life Support Certification
  • Completion of critical care course acceptable to Community Chief Nursing Officer and demonstrate mastery of equipment, diagnostic responsibilities, and procedures required of the critical care nurse prior to unit assignment
  • Completion of Moderate Sedation, Stroke Modules, Restraints Competencies

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Up to 1 year Preferred (Minimum of one (1) year acute care nursing experience should be relevant to specific department)

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with Electronic Health Record
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification (recommended)
