About This Role

This Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for providing exceptional nursing care to patients by assessing their status, determining priorities, implementing clinical interventions, and developing care plans to improve outcomes, all while ensuring a safe environment.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
  • Determine the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
  • Implement clinical nursing interventions to acute, critical patients that require intensive medical care
  • Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment
  • Observe the surgery and surgical team from a broad perspective and assist the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient
  • Manage the nursing care of the patient within the OR and coordinate the needs of the surgical team with other care providers
  • Provide pre-op, intra-op, and post-op care, including assessment and discharge instructions

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS Basic Life Support

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Associates degree or Bachelors degree in Nursing

Nice to Have

  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • CNOR Certified Perioperative Nurse
  • SGNA Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates
  • Two years of RN experience in Critical Care Department
  • Completion of OR internship program
  • Successful completion of Peri-op 101
