This Registered Nurse (RN) position in Labor & Delivery provides comprehensive nursing care during labor, delivery, and postpartum stages, focusing on maternal and fetal well-being. The role involves administering medications, assisting with deliveries, and educating patients and families, all while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including monitoring vital signs and fetal heart tones
- Assist with labor, delivery, and postpartum care, including Cesarean sections and emergency interventions
- Administer medications and monitor for side effects and adverse reactions
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Assist with newborn resuscitation and stabilization as required
- Collaborate with obstetricians, neonatologists, and other members of the healthcare team
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions accurately and in a timely manner
- Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and their families
- Ensure a clean, safe, and organized work environment, adhering to infection control protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff training programs
Requirements
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current state RN license or compact state equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) upon hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- Strong clinical skills in obstetric and neonatal care
- Proficient in fetal monitoring and neonatal resuscitation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, emergency situations
- Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery or postpartum care preferred
Nice to Have
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of six (6) months of experience as a Registered Nurse in labor and delivery or postpartum care
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB)
