Registered Nurse - Oncology

About This Role

This Registered Nurse position at Norwalk Hospital provides direct patient care on the Oncology unit, guided by ANA standards. The role involves assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality services.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated
• Document detailed information incorporating the plan of care, interventions, and outcomes
• Ensure appropriate documentation based on the level of care and include transfer/discharge documentation
• Follow the Five Rights of Medication Administration, assess patients prior to administration, and re-assess/document response
• Coordinate and supervise the delivery of nursing care, including delegation of tasks
• Maintain accountability for care delegated
• Actively work to promote a culture of safety, assess potential safety risks, and adhere to hospital policies
• Initiate interventions related to identified risk factors
• Conduct bedside shift report and bedside rounds with peers
• Document the application of the nursing process in a responsible, accountable, and ethical manner
• Ensure patient hand-off as appropriate when leaving for breaks
• Assess learning needs of patients/family/significant other and provide appropriate instruction
• Care for specific patient populations as necessary
• Deliver Patient Centered Care by embracing cultural diversity, respecting dignity, and maintaining open communication
• Meet accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities
• Promote a culture of learning and growth by seeking formal and independent learning activities and mentoring others

Requirements

• Current and unobstructed Connecticut Registered Nurse License
