Registered Nurse GN Internship

About This Role

This internship program prepares recent Graduate Nurses for an RN position in the Pediatric Cardio-Thoracic Unit (PCTU) at Mott Children's Hospital, focusing on the specialized care of patients with congenital and acquired heart disease.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in a technology-intensive environment including ECMO, CRRT, and VAD's
• Perform complex physiologic patient assessments in a high intensity environment
• Care for high acuity patients with rapidly changing status
• Partner with cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and fellows
• Provide individual support and education to families and patients throughout their intensive care unit admission

Requirements

• Must be able to start on March 12, 2026
• Successfully completed an accredited BSN
• Successful completion of the NCLEX no later than 45 days from start date
• PALS certification (or within six months of hire, or prior to end of probationary period)

Qualifications

• Accredited BSN
• Graduate Nurse or Newly Licensed RN, who has not practiced as a RN

Nice to Have

• Student nurse clinical experience in a PCTU
• Experience as an extern or ICU tech in a PCTU
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
• Highly motivated and organized
• Demonstrated leadership abilities
• Takes initiative in seeking professional growth
• Demonstrates expertise in communication and problem-solving skills
• Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher
