About This Role

Join our Emergency Department team to provide direct care to Veteran patients. This role involves performing triage, initiating treatment, and evaluating outcomes for stable and critically ill patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, coordinate, evaluate, and delegate the delivery of skilled patient care
  • Provide comprehensive emergency care to stable and critically ill patients
  • Exercise excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to be a strong team member
  • Provide patient education
  • Use critical thinking skills in making decisions regarding patient care, including knowledge and integration of relevant standards, resources, and data
  • Operate specialized medical equipment such as defibrillator, LUCAS, electrocardiogram, oxygen flowmeter, IV pump, bladder scanner
  • Initiate a patient's plan of care based on assessment and provider's orders
  • Maintain continuous contact with physicians, patients, patient families/significant others, community agencies, patient care staff, and management
  • Have and maintain current ACLS certification and be an active member of the facility code team
  • Utilize correct personal protective equipment (PPE) when providing care for patients with suspected infectious diseases

Requirements

  • English Language Proficiency
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing school
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)
