This Registered Nurse position at Norwalk Hospital provides direct patient care guided by ANA standards, collaborating with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient medical and nursing regimens. The role requires strong leadership skills and commitment to professional accountability and growth within a dedicated GI Procedure Room setting.
Responsibilities
- Complete patient assessment and reassessment as clinically indicated
- Document detailed information incorporating the plan of care, interventions, and outcomes
- Ensure appropriate documentation for transfer/discharge as indicated
- Follow the five Rights of Medication Administration and verbalize medication information to patients/family
- Assess patient prior to administering medications, noting allergies, parameters, and potential side effects
- Coordinate and supervise the delivery of nursing care, including task delegation
- Actively promote a culture of safety by assessing patients for potential safety risks and adhering to hospital policies
- Conduct bedside shift report and bedside rounds with peers on assigned patients
- Document the application of the nursing process in a responsible, accountable, and ethical manner
- Ensure patient hand-off as appropriate when leaving for breaks
- Assess learning needs of patient/family and provide appropriate instruction
- Care for specific patient populations as necessary
- Embrace cultural diversity and respect the dignity of all individuals through caring relationships
- Maintain open lines of communication inclusive of active listening
- Meet accreditation, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities related to the position
- Seek experiences and learning activities to maintain clinical and professional skills and knowledge
- Teach others to succeed through mentorship
- Perform other duties as assigned within the state nursing scope of practice
Requirements
- GI Procedure Room Experience
- Current and unobstructed Connecticut Registered Nurse License (CT Hospitals)
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification

- Associate's Degree
