Support recreation programs and activities with a focus on athletics and fitness for the City of Norfolk's Department of Parks and Recreation. Assist program participants and ensure facility order and cleanliness.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the planning and implementation of programs, including sports competitions, senior recreation, fitness, skate park, therapeutic recreation, and special events
- Provide oversight and direction of program participants and volunteers, monitoring events, programs, participants, and spectators
- Perform administrative duties including answering phones, responding to patrons, completing forms, setting up and breaking down necessary equipment
- Maintain facility order and cleanliness
- Enforce facility rules and entrance requirements
Requirements
- Excellent inter-personal, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to effectively interact with and contribute to the growth and development of diverse citizen groups
- Ability to see, hear, stand/walk for extended periods of time, lift from ground to above shoulder, climb, bend, stoop, sit, push, pull, perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and utilize telephone communications
Qualifications
- Less than high school or equivalency required, graduation from high school or equivalent preferred
- Some experience working in a customer service setting or with children/youth in a recreation, athletics, fitness, aquatics, education setting preferred.
Nice to Have
- CPR/AED certification
- First Aid certification
- Valid Driver’s License
