About This Role

The Readiness Assistance Specialist provides technical oversight and guidance to ensure compliance with requirements and operational practices for facility and activity startups. This role works within multi-discipline teams and interfaces with management to ensure timely and efficient execution of organizational initiatives related to readiness preparations.

Responsibilities

  • Report to and serve as a primary support team member for the Readiness Assistance Manager
  • Provide specific guidance and collaborate across all operating elements of Operations, addressing cross-cutting issues
  • Significantly impact the organization's ability to evolve, meet customer requirements, gain efficiency, and operate safely
  • Assist in developing strategic direction; assess and evaluate organizational performance
  • Lead evaluation of performance issues and development of related action plans and training content
  • Lead improvement initiatives; implement specific technical initiatives
  • Communicate directions, strategies, and plans across the Organization
  • Apply appropriate and effective tools for project management to ensure timely, effective, and efficient execution of Organization-level initiatives
  • Represent Readiness Assistance on special project teams in a diversity of subject areas
  • Employ special tools and techniques as appropriate, i.e. project management, operational analysis, nuclear criticality safety, etc.
  • Communicate and coordinate information sharing across the organization and the DOE complex

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience, OR PhD with no experience
  • Meet requirements of DOE O 426.2A (Baccalaureate in engineering or related scientific major, 2 years job-related, and 1-year nuclear experience; or a DOE O 426.2A alternative)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is a requirement for security clearance applicants
  • Ability to pass a pre-placement physical, drug screening and background investigation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or a related scientific major
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 3 years with a Master's, or no experience with a PhD. Also, 2 years job-related experience and 1 year nuclear experience required per DOE O 426.2A.

Nice to Have

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of plant facilities, operations, safety management programs, and understanding of requirement flow down as related to DEO O 425.1
