About This Role

Operate MRI, radiographic, and CT equipment to produce clinical diagnostic images as directed by physicians. This role involves preparing and instructing patients, coordinating schedules, and maintaining records while upholding Avera's values.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and adjust equipment for performing MRI, including IV injections for contrast media
  • Perform MRI procedures accurately and efficiently according to established standards
  • Coordinate daily schedules for efficiency and assess exam completion
  • Assist with staff/student on-the-job training and orientation, including MRI classes
  • Assist with the collection and maintenance of records for the Radiology Department, QA, Joint Commission, and OSHA
  • Maintain all required records/reports for the MRI area (patient, volume, equipment records)
  • Provide detailed reports to management as requested
  • Consult with radiologist, physicians, and other patient-care personnel on exam details and specialized protocols
  • Research lab data results, understand IV Access Systems/Restrictions, and monitor patient condition during contrast injection
  • Perform various radiology and CT procedures accurately, efficiently, and according to established standards and protocols
  • Initiate proper intervention to radiologist or referring practitioner when an exam indicates immediate attention
  • Utilize computer systems such as PACS, RIS, HIS EMR systems and perform general clerical duties

Requirements

  • Associate's or a certificate of completion from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or hospital-based Radiologic Technology Program
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Upon Hire
  • Thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices and procedures, physiology and human anatomy

Qualifications

  • Associate's or equivalent from a 2 year college or technical school or hospital-based Radiologic Technology Program
  • Less than 1 year thorough knowledge of radiologic and MRI terminology, practices and procedures, physiology and human anatomy; 1-3 years training/experience in MRI preferred

Nice to Have

  • 1-3 years Training/experience in MRI
