Utilize ionizing radiation to create diagnostic imaging radiographs across all age groups, obtaining patient history and explaining procedures. Provide compassionate patient care aligned with Radiology Gold Service Excellence guidelines and ARRT Code of Conduct.
Responsibilities
- Perform high quality diagnostic procedures
- Maintain knowledge of and observe universal precautions and all other precautions determined by the University of Michigan Health System
- Use and maintain aseptic technique
- Respond to patients changing physical conditions, such as changes in airway/breathing, heart rate, acute change in level of consciousness, seizure etc.
- Effectively communicate with patients to obtain important clinical information, instruct the patient, relieve anxiety, and gain cooperation during procedures
- Identify and administer correct contrast media per GI/GU department protocol
- Display excellent customer service skills while maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
- Demonstrate excellent teamwork skills
- Adapt to changing environments (flexible schedules, emergency conditions, protocol development, technology advancements)
- Function effectively under conditions which are often fast paced and stressful
- Maintain current ARRT registration
Requirements
- Graduation from a school of radiologic technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible with first exam attempt within 6 months from hire/transfer
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Critical thinking skills, ingenuity, creativity and professionalism
- Understanding with all age-appropriate guidelines for communication, positioning, radiation exposures and radiation protection
- Physical ability to push, pull, assist, and transfer patients safely from transportation devices to diagnostic table
- Physical ability to push, pull, and assist when placing radiology equipment under the patient
- Ability to move heavy equipment such as a portable
- Physical dexterity using fine motor skills
- Dependability
Qualifications
- Graduation from a school of radiologic technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Nice to Have
- PACS experience as well as proficient computer entry skills
- Experience with digital imaging in an inpatient and trauma setting
- Familiar with GE C-arms, Medtronic O-arm, Shimadzu portables, GI/GU Procedures, and Siemens equipment
