Quality Trim Engineer

About This Role

This Quality Trim Engineer position involves ensuring the quality of trim components, creating and maintaining documentation, and supporting manufacturing processes, contributing to a stable company in the automotive industry.

Responsibilities

• Review design inputs and drawings for completeness and accuracy
• Create and maintain trim DFMEA, DVP&R, and other APQP/PPAP documentation
• Maintain sewing specifications and appearance guidelines for all cut-and-sew trim parts
• Develop prototype BOMs, tooling requirements, and internal/external specifications
• Create and release trim cover drawings, patterns (paper and digital), and construction methods
• Determine material usage, scrap rates, and trim BOM details
• Support manufacturing engineering with sewing processes, layouts, and feasibility reviews
• Troubleshoot trim-related issues and support complaint-resolution processes
• Determine quality metrics for all manufacturing procedures
• Document all technical procedures and user guides

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Trim Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 6+ years of trim engineering experience
• Experience with foam skiving, A‑surface management, and pattern development (paper and digital)
• Knowledge of automotive cut‑and‑sew construction, materials, laminations, retainers, and attachment methods
• Basic understanding of hand tools used in seat assembly
• Familiarity with DVP&R, DFMEA, DFM/A, 8D, APQP, PPAP, benchmarking, VA/VE, GD&T, AutoCAD, and CATIA V5
• Understanding of ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14000 requirements
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Trim Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
• 6+ years of trim engineering experience

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of 5S processes and reporting
