Purchasing Agent

About This Role

This Purchasing Agent role is responsible for researching, evaluating, and purchasing products for a nationwide construction contractor. The agent will manage the purchasing process from order initiation to inventory management, aiming to secure cost savings and smooth material flow.

Responsibilities

• Input transactions and administer a purchasing and contracts system or database
• Initiate, prepare, process, and verify purchase orders following established guidelines to purchase materials and goods by required delivery dates
• Expedite delayed orders and resolve issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements
• Interact with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure that purchasing needs are met promptly and efficiently
• Accountable for inventory management throughout the purchasing process, including optimizing the purchasing strategy to protect cash flow

Requirements

• 2-5 years of related experience
• Highschool diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to work under moderate supervision
• Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint/OneDrive)
• Basic Proficiency in English

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or GED
• 2-5 years of related experience

Nice to Have

• Experience in Fire Sprinkler, Electrical, HVAC or Plumbing Purchasing
