PT Counselor, Disabled Students Programs and Services

About This Role

This role involves providing counseling services to disabled students covering academic, personal, and career concerns within the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.

Responsibilities

• Provide counseling services in the areas of academic, personal and career concerns
• Perform instructional, counselor, or librarian duties as assigned
• Evaluate and assess student work
• Timely submission of grades
• Participate in the assessment of performance, including administrative and student evaluations
• Participate in various campus and staff development activities

Requirements

• Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, special education, or related field with coursework in counseling for disabilities
• Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for diversity of community college students, faculty and staff

Qualifications

• Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in rehabilitation counseling, OR Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in special education, and twenty four (24) or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology or social work, OR Master's degree in counseling, guidance, student personnel, psychology, career development, or social welfare
• Two (2) years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in counseling or guidance for students with disabilities OR counseling and/or guidance in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities.
