Project Architect, K-12

About This Role

Lead K-12 public school architectural projects from concept through completion, leveraging strong leadership and technical expertise to coordinate design, documentation, and construction while ensuring compliance and client satisfaction. Manage project teams, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with consultants and school districts.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of a project with demonstrated technical expertise on projects of various scales and complexities
• Supervise small to large teams, produce, delegate and coordinate the work, and review and approve the work of all internal and external team members
• Provide final review and approvals of all code analysis, material selections, and specifications
• Oversee construction document production and management of BIM model
• Attend client meetings and regularly interfaces with clients and consultants
• Coordinate with Project Manager(s) on a regular basis to ensure projects are executed according to workplan
• Understand the required scope of work and account for the team's execution of the work in the most efficient and technically feasible manner
• Advocate for design excellence and encourage team members and consultants to keep design as a priority
• Implement methods for improving the quality of documentation for the firm in order to mitigate risk

Requirements

• Registered Architect or working toward registration
• 10+ years’ experience in an architecture office
• Experience in K-12 public schools
• Proven ability to lead the design, documentation and construction administration process
• Proficient in Revit
• Local to New Haven, CT and able to work in office at least 3 days per week

Qualifications

• Bachelors and/or Masters in Architecture
• 10+ years’ experience in an architecture office, with K-12 public school project experience

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, Sketch Up, Rhino, 3D Max
