Join the Process Maintenance and Decontamination Services (PMDS) group as an Electrical Engineer to develop and implement designs, installation, maintenance, and support of programmatic control systems for Plutonium Science and Manufacturing facilities. This role involves interaction with other engineers and technicians as well as close cooperation with support groups within the Directorate.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement designs for control systems
- Install control systems
- Maintain control systems
- Provide support for control systems
- Interact and coordinate with other engineers and technicians
- Cooperate with support groups (Facilities Engineering, Construction, Waste, Maintenance, and Safety)
Requirements
- Knowledge and experience with applying engineering design cycle principles: requirements gathering, design, implementation, debugging, testing, and documentation
- Experience with designs, completed installations, maintenance, or technical products
- Knowledge and experience in the design and development of computer-based data acquisition systems (Allen Bradley/Rockwell Software PLCs, SCADA, industrial computers)
- Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, and 79
- Broad knowledge of electronics, instrumentation, and control-systems hardware and software
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills, including technical writing and technical presentations
- Knowledge of distributed control systems and networking
- Knowledge of control & data acquisition theory and instrumentation hardware
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related science from an accredited institution combined with 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience
- 2 years of related experience; 1 year of nuclear experience for DOE 426.2 positions
Nice to Have
- Active DOE Q clearance and HRP Certified
- Glovebox Operator (GBO)
- Fissile Material Handler (FMH)
- Electrical Safety Officer training
