This Program Manager / System Administrator role provides technical and managerial oversight for Windows servers and workstations, leading a technical team, and serving as the primary interface to government customers within the DoD environment on Lackland AFB. The position involves both hands-on system administration and program management duties to support the 33rd Network Warfare Squadron.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a technical team across multiple functional areas, including scheduling, staffing, and workload management
- Ensure adherence to DoD, AF, and corporate policies, standards, and compliance requirements
- Oversee training, certification tracking, performance management, timekeeping, and professional development for the team
- Address conflict resolution, morale, and disciplinary issues in coordination with company leadership and customer stakeholders
- Serve as primary company interface to government customers, maintaining effective communication and ensuring service levels are met or exceeded
- Monitor and report on program performance, risks, and issues; develop and implement corrective actions
- Support planning and execution of unit initiatives, including virtualization and infrastructure improvement efforts
- Provide direct system administration support for Windows servers and workstations in physical and virtualized environments
- Act as initial point of contact for related trouble tickets; troubleshoot and resolve incidents and service requests
- Perform installation, patching, configuration, and daily maintenance of servers, workstations, laptops, and associated peripherals
- Support deployment and maintenance of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI)
- Ensure integrity, confidentiality, and availability of systems and networks through proper configuration, monitoring, and maintenance practices
- Manage system backup and recovery procedures; validate restore capabilities and support continuity of operations
- Create, modify, and delete user accounts in accordance with established policies, ensuring appropriate rights and privileges
- Develop, implement, and maintain domain Group Policies to enforce security baselines and operational standards
Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience providing system administration for Windows servers and workstations in DoD or similarly regulated environments
- Proven experience leading or managing technical teams in an IT, cyber, or network operations setting
- Demonstrated success in resolving a high volume of technical tickets and delivering strong customer service
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, or similar), including large-scale VDI environments
- Experience with Active Directory, user and group management, and Group Policy creation and administration
- Knowledge of backup/recovery, configuration management, and security best practices in a DoD/enterprise context
Qualifications
- Experience providing system administration for Windows servers and workstations in DoD or similarly regulated environments. Proven experience leading or managing technical teams in an IT, cyber, or network operations setting. Demonstrated success in resolving a high volume of technical tickets and delivering strong customer service. Familiarity with virtualization technologies, Active Directory, user and group management, and Group Policy administration. Knowledge of backup/recovery, configuration management, and security best practices in a DoD/enterprise context.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience supporting Air Force or other DoD cyber/network warfare units
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Security+, Network+, MCSA/MCSE, VCP, ITIL)
- Experience with DoD cybersecurity frameworks, STIGs, RMF, and related compliance requirements
