Accountable for maintaining and executing the master production schedule for assigned areas, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely delivery. This role involves monitoring production, anticipating constraints, and coordinating with various departments to optimize workflow.
Responsibilities
- Promise and firm plan all incoming orders within defined capacities to synchronize production activity and ensure balanced workflow and consistent lead times
- Monitor plant activity, anticipate operational constraints, and formulate appropriate responses to accommodate the master production schedule, working with functional supervisors to execute corrective action
- Release firm planned orders to production or outside vendors as required to fulfill the master production schedule
- Monitor actual versus planned activity at key work centers, expediting when appropriate, reviewing late orders, applying Manufacturing Reschedule Dates (MRD), and processing Late Order Notifications
- Report plant performance and maintain data relative to available capacities, planned requirements, and actual performance
- Maintain and execute the master schedule to optimize utilization of constraints, maximize throughput, minimize lead times, and meet customer requirements
- Act as liaison between manufacturing, engineering, sales, customer service, and outside vendors to resolve schedule problems, respond to emergencies, and negotiate customer deliveries
- Work with the Purchasing and Planning Supervisor, the Senior Buyer – Raw Materials, MRO Buyer, and the Materials Management Specialist to ensure timely procurement of raw materials, equipment, tooling, and purchased parts
- Support manufacturing with information on order status, production history, current backlogs, anticipated manpower, and kiln loading requirements
- Monitor and maintain key data files including finished goods planning data and open shop order files to ensure integrity
- Participate in Continuous Improvement Initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Business Administration, Engineering or Operations Management
- 2-3+ Years Manufacturing Experience
- Knowledge of Just-in-Time, Time Based Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints Principals
