Product Engineer

About This Role

Blackbird Health is seeking a Product Engineer to act as a founder-in-residence for their engineering teams, focusing on end-to-end feature ownership from conception to deployment. This role involves product thinking, world-class coding, and collaboration across Engineering, Product, and Design to deliver impactful solutions for children's mental health care.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development of complex features from concept to launch
• Collaborate with Product & Engineering leadership to define requirements, user flows, and success metrics
• Design scalable, maintainable full-stack solutions that integrate with EHR and AI services
• Manage the timeline and delivery of projects, coordinating across various teams
• Utilize user feedback and data to rapidly iterate on software features
• Mentor junior engineers to elevate their product sense and understanding of user/business impact

Requirements

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience
• Principal-level technical depth including system architecture, tool selection, and debugging production issues
• Demonstrated experience managing projects, defining roadmaps, or significant product influence (Founder, Technical PM)
• Expertise in React/TypeScript, Node.js/Python, and cloud infrastructure (GCP, CDN, IAP)
• Comfortable using SQL or analytics tools (Tableau, Snowflake, Looker, Databricks)
• Product-minded builder mindset
• Full-stack polymath capabilities
• Extreme ownership attitude
• Strong communication skills across technical and clinical stakeholders
• Pragmatic perfectionist approach to shipping features

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience, with a track record of shipping complex web/mobile applications from scratch.

Nice to Have

• Experience as a Founder or early employee at a startup
• Background in Design/UX (Figma skills)
• Experience in Healthcare/Health Tech, understanding clinical workflows or FHIR data models
• Experience with LLM/AI integration into user-facing products
