Produce Assistant Team Leader

About This Role

Assist the Produce Manager in leading the Produce Department by managing team members, ordering supplies, and implementing merchandising initiatives to drive business growth and maximize profits.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean environment in compliance with health and OSHA requirements
• Direct Team Members using work lists and perform all duties required of a clerk
• Oversee and evaluate training of new and current Team Members
• Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
• Demonstrate strong knowledge and passion for products and services associated with the role
• Write department orders, monitor ordering, and supervise stocking and receiving using automated systems
• Manage inventories by tracking weekly reports and ordering products to meet customer requirements and maximize profits
• Understand and adhere to the Collective Bargaining Agreement
• Schedule Team Members and delegate assignments effectively in the absence of the Produce Manager
• Prepare, maintain, and track records for inventories and work processes to calculate monthly gross profits
• Develop and implement merchandising plans to meet departmental financial objectives
• Control department costs by monitoring and improving operations to increase profitability

Requirements

• 1 to 3 years of experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1 to 3 years of experience

Nice to Have

• Prior management experience in grocery operations/produce or related field
• Customer service experience
• Knowledge of Market District operational procedures
• Ability to read and interpret Profit and Loss statement
