Experienced Cake Decorator

About This Role

The Cake Decorator ensures high-quality, beautifully decorated pastries and cakes while providing excellent guest service and contributing to team success within a bakery setting.

Responsibilities

• Fill tables and cases with cakes, moving product from prep area to sales area
• Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock percentage goals
• Apply merchandising principles to generate sales and impress guests
• Take special orders from guests over the telephone and in person
• Maintain product quality in the sales area by checking dates and condition
• Document and/or record daily known loss
• Prioritize safety for Team Members, guests, and products
• Provide exemplary customer service, greeting customers and assisting with product location and suggestions
• Properly handle products and equipment in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness of equipment, tables, utensils, and floor
• Prepare and decorate bakery products, ensuring freshness and proper code dating procedures
• Maintain proper safety and sanitation methods, including emergency procedures and cleanups
• Accurately record special orders to ensure customer satisfaction
• Maintain department procedures, daily setups, order taking, and proper product rotation
• Stay updated on new product knowledge, procedures, and seasonal items
• Ice and decorate cakes using spatulas and icing bags
• Prepare icing and products for decorated items by following recipes and mixing ingredients
• Assist in maintaining Bakery backroom, cooler, and freezer efficiency by unloading deliveries
• Operate department equipment, including mixers, scales, airbrush guns, and knives

Requirements

• Satisfactory completion of job specific skills assessment
• 6 to 12 months experience or successful completion of the Giant Eagle Apprenticeship program
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• At least 18 years of age
• Creative with cuisine and passionate about food trends
• Team player with a willingness to support others
• Ability to inspire others and desire to grow into leadership
