About This Role

Act as a central Facilities Operations Technician, monitoring site-wide operating parameters and ensuring the seamless functionality of facility infrastructure. Serve as a critical communication hub, interfacing between Accelerator Operations, Building Managers, and external utility entities to maintain optimal operational status and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor site operating parameters via control systems (EPICS, DDC) and notify appropriate shops for adjustments to maintain optimal operations.
  • Facilitate daily communications between Facilities groups, Accelerator Control Rooms (ACR), and SPEAR Operations.
  • Coordinate operations with outside contractors and utility providers during outages, power switching, equipment servicing, and site installations.
  • Maintain thorough records in the online e-log, update CATERs, and manage task tracking programs, ensuring flow switch files and pressure documentation are current.
  • Respond to site emergencies including blackouts, brownouts, water leaks, and power outages.
  • Ensure all Facilities Operations groups adhere to ES&H safety procedures and STA-mandated training.
  • Attend meetings as a Facilities/FOC representative and respond to inquiries from Area Managers and facility users.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in navigating control systems such as EPICS and DDC.
  • Strong competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and other computer-based task management programs.
  • Willingness to work through breaks/lunches and adjust shift start/end times as operations dictate.
  • Completion of all safety training as mandated by the Site Training Assessment (STA).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proven experience with site-wide operations, facility procedures, and beam/laser operation requirements.

  • Ability to manage high-pressure situations.
  • Exceptional etiquette in email, text, telephone, and radio communications.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to generate reports and maintain filing systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical support, contractors, and management during stressful, time-sensitive events.
