Supervise offenders in housing units, ensuring safety and compliance with facility rules, while also performing administrative tasks and assisting Probation and Parole Officers to support the rehabilitation of individuals within the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities
- Supervise offenders in housing units/living quarters, encompassing housekeeping, work, educational, recreational, religious, and treatment activities in Community Supervision Centers
- Conduct checks and counts of offenders; inspect housing units for safety and security violations; and check for health and safety hazards
- Prepare reports on offender violations, behaviors, mechanical deficiencies, and security breaches of facility rules
- Interview offenders to gather information on residential, family, employment, and educational records; verify backgrounds by contacting family, employers, and friends
- Collect and verify offenders' legal case histories and police reports; prepare reports and maintain records of investigative findings
- Retrieve information from NCIC, MULES, Missouri Department of Revenue, and Missouri Department of Corrections' computer databases; respond to and enter/cancel warrants on escaped and/or absconded offenders
- Photograph and issue identification cards to offenders; ensure offenders have parole orders; assist with job search activities
- Investigate, monitor, and enter schedule changes for offenders on electronic monitoring; escort and/or transport offenders
- Assist in maintaining databases, chronological shift records, inventory, and vehicle logs; troubleshoot equipment problems
- Answer and log emergency calls from offenders, family members, and the general public; contact appropriate staff to resolve issues
- Assist Probation and Parole Officers with court hearings and home visits
- Supervise offender movement and location; intervene in emergency situations and perform CPR
- Monitor, control, and document offender's consumption of prescription and over-the-counter medications
- Administer substance abuse assessment devices and collect DNA samples
- Supervise visits with offenders; search visitors, offenders, property, living quarters, buildings, and grounds for contraband
- Provide after-hours assistance to departmental staff and the general public; order, maintain, and issue supplies
Requirements
- Minimum 18 years old
- Valid vehicle operator's license
- Ability to pass a background investigation administered by the Missouri Department of Corrections
Nice to Have
- Successful completion of safety training (firearms, defensive tactics, CPR, First Aid) and ability to re-qualify annually
- Successful completion of MULES training administered by the Missouri State Highway Patrol
