About This Role

This role is for an experienced Principal Accountant specializing in general ledger ownership and period-end close leadership. The position is critical for maintaining accurate financial records, leading close cycles, and supporting both internal and external reporting. This accountant will play a key role in enabling the organization to make informed financial decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Prepare, review, and approve complex journal entries, accrual schedules, and account reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger structure, including chart of accounts and account coding integrity
  • Review and analyze account activity to identify discrepancies and resolve issues proactively
  • Prepare internal financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors during interim and year‑end procedures
  • Interpret GAAP and internal policies; research technical accounting matters as needed
  • Support the Controller on accounting policy development and complex transactions
  • Maintain and track schedules related to federal, state, and local estimated tax payments
  • Complete tax apportionment updates and reconcile tax‑related general ledger activity
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional partners in AP, AR, Credit, Payroll, and Operations to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Assist with ERP enhancements, including module optimization and system control improvements
  • Develop and maintain internal SOPs, process documentation, and internal controls
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives focused on efficiency and accuracy
  • Select tools, techniques, and approaches to support accounting projects and initiatives
  • Support additional accounting tasks and special projects as assigned

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and technical accounting concepts
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Ability to prepare reports, schedules, and detailed workpapers with accuracy
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience
