About This Role

This Postdoctoral Scholar position is a mentored fellowship designed to prepare exceptional early career scholars for an independent research-focused career. Scholars will develop their own research portfolio and collaborate with faculty and professionals at Florida State University.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in mentored research and professional development activities with IDHI Director and Co-Director or other faculty
  • Build a mentorship network tailored to development needs and research areas of interest
  • Create an individual development plan including training goals and activities
  • Participate in networking opportunities with professionals and faculty across disciplines
  • Develop skills in research grant proposal development, manuscript development, qualitative/quantitative research methods, behavioral intervention development, implementation, evaluation, and career planning
  • Publish dissertation manuscripts
  • Write NIH training and/or career development awards (e.g. F series, K series)
  • Attend professional meetings and conferences
  • Engage in guest lecturing and professional service activities

Requirements

  • Background in behavioral and social science research
  • Doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology or another related discipline conferred within the last five years
  • Experience with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods
  • Experience and/or interest in research focused on HIV prevention and care, mental health, stigma and the social determinants of health

Qualifications

  • Doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology or another related discipline
  • Doctorate or appropriate terminal degree in Public Health, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Anthropology or another related discipline conferred within the last five years.

Nice to Have

  • Experience and/or interest in LGBTQ+/sexual and gender minority (SGM) health and research
  • Experience conducting intervention health research and/or practice
  • Experience and/or interest in digital health tools, interventions, and research/practice applications
