About This Role

This postdoctoral position focuses on medical device development, specifically the design, prototyping, and validation of novel wound healing technology, sponsored by the Defense Health Agency.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, design, construct, and test prototype devices for skin wound healing applications, including building testbeds and collecting performance data
  • Deploy prototype devices at pre-clinical sites, including training personnel and providing engineering support
  • Maintain engineering documentation by creating, organizing, updating, and preserving technical records
  • Support the writing and preparation of project reports and dissemination materials such as conference abstracts, posters, and manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum five years of experience in design and prototyping of devices
  • Demonstrated excellence in control systems, mechanical design, electromechanical system fabrication, rapid prototyping, miniature sensors development, electronic circuit design, CAD design, programming in LabVIEW, or LabVIEW Real-Time

Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum five years of experience (including MS and PhD research experience) in design and prototyping of devices
