About This Role

As a Plasma Center Nurse (LPN) at BioLife Plasma Services, you will determine donor eligibility, manage adverse events, and review laboratory results to ensure the safety and quality of plasma collection for life-changing medicines.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including managing informed consent, AIDS education, and confidential self-exclusion
  • Conduct medical history interviews and physical examinations
  • Perform blood testing and review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
  • Evaluate donor reactions that occur at the facility as outlined in SOPs
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings, medical or technical issues, donor safety, and eligibility guidance
  • Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
  • Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation by occupational health/ER is required
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats

Requirements

  • Currently licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
