About This Role

This role will provide comprehensive medical care to the patient population of Primary Health Care, Inc. across various clinic and outreach sites. The Physician will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care and promote independent medical judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care in accordance with established standards, regulations, and policies and procedures of PHC
  • Obtain medical histories and perform complete and/or appropriate examination to diagnose and treat patients
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests including radiology and laboratory studies and interpret results
  • Write medical orders and prescriptions
  • Perform approved procedures
  • Provide patient and family education and counseling
  • Accurately code patient encounters and maintain electronic medical records
  • Complete appropriate correspondence, phone calls, referral documentation, prior authorizations, refills, and letters to patients and referring providers
  • Actively participate in process improvement work and quality measures
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements
  • Provide clinical supervision for Physician Assistant providers and consultation to advanced practice clinicians
  • Participate in clinic and didactic instruction and provide consultation, leadership, mentoring, coaching, training, orientation, and education for employees, students, and residents

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school
  • Licensed in Iowa as M.D. or D.O.
  • Board Certified or eligible within five years of residency completion
  • Current registration with DEA and Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners
  • Current BLS Certification
  • Current Mandatory Reporter Training
