About This Role

The Physician Assistant will provide medical care, diagnostic, and therapeutic interventions to patients with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions within various clinical settings, under the supervision of a Physician. They will assess health status, perform physical exams, identify health risks, and develop treatment plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical care, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to patients with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions.
  • Assess health status by obtaining relevant health and medical history and performing physical exams.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory tests and other diagnostic studies.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with patients, significant others, and physicians.
  • Prescribe and monitor medications according to prescriptive authority and hospital policy.
  • Collaborate with nursing, medical, and other healthcare team members to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participate in quality monitoring through review of records and treatment plans for patient outcomes.
  • Identify patient and family needs for discharge planning, including education and equipment.
  • Communicate appropriately with primary care physicians and participate in emergency treatment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of department and patient matters.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program
  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Supervision Agreement filed with Ohio Board of Medicine
  • Current certificate to practice and certificate to prescribe (or eligible) by Ohio Board of Medicine
  • Credentialing as an active member of medical staff and appropriate medical staff privileges
  • Current Health Care Provider BLS training

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies Preferred. Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.

Health Care Provider BLS training (Required) NCCPA (National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistant) certification (Required)
