Physician Assistant, Inpatient Orthopedics

About This Role

Serve as a Nocturnist Physician Assistant for the Inpatient Orthopedics team at Newton-Wellesley Hospital, providing direct patient care, conducting evaluations, ordering tests, and performing therapeutic procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide coverage in the Emergency Department and on the inpatient floor
• Perform inpatient surgical consults and potentially evening OR coverage
• Present and discuss patient evaluations with Attending Surgeons to develop appropriate treatment plans
• Order diagnostic tests and interpret results
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including wound care, tube and drain insertion/removal, suturing, splint/brace/cast application/removal, medication administration, central venous line removal, and electrocardiograms
• Conduct daily patient rounds
• Participate in discharge planning and complete discharge summaries
• Educate and counsel patients and families
• Orient medical students, physician assistant students, and surgical residents to the clinical environment
• Participate in quality improvement and quality assurance initiatives

Requirements

• Master's Degree Physician Assistant
• Physician Assistant State License
• 2 years of experience as a PA
