About This Role

Provide physical therapy services to children aged birth to three, focusing on developmentally and educationally based interventions to improve safety and independence. This role involves assessment, treatment planning, documentation, and communication with families and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical therapy services to children as outlined in their treatment plan and initiate referrals
  • Conduct evaluations annually and perform six-month reviews of IFSPs to determine need for intervention
  • Produce discharge reports to assist with the transition process or as required at discharge
  • Interpret and communicate evaluation findings to parents and other treatment team members
  • Establish treatment schedule and provide frequency of services as determined by IFSP plan
  • Communicate and document changes to IFSP as needed
  • Participate in co-treatment or IFSP consultation with other team members
  • Develop appropriate home or community programming to maintain and enhance child development
  • Document results of the child’s assessment, treatment, follow-up, and termination of services
  • Adapt treatment plans to meet the individual needs of the child
  • Provide, recommend, and fabricate adaptive devices or other equipment
  • Train parents and caregivers in the appropriate use or application of orthotics
  • Supervise students and provide mentorship as needed
  • Review quality and appropriateness of services delivered and individual physical therapy programs for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Participate in family and caregiver education to discuss client progress and strategies for continued support
  • Communicate with management regarding caseload status and capacity for new referrals
