About This Role

This Phlebotomist role is vital for patient diagnoses and treatment, involving expert blood collection and specimen processing while ensuring the highest level of patient care.

Responsibilities

• Expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture
• Ensure integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution of specimens to testing areas with special instructions
• Perform clerical duties while prioritizing patient comfort
• Practice positive patient identification at all times
• Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions
• Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments
• Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures
• Follow blood collection procedures, performing venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations
• Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements
• Perform Blood Bank collections, following written collection and banding procedures
• Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms

Requirements

• High School Graduate General Studies or High School GED General Studies
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification (within 90 days of hire)
• Precise clinical skills for blood collection and specimen handling
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities

Qualifications

• High School Graduate (General Studies) or GED (General Studies)

Nice to Have

• 3 months phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility
• Phlebotomy Technician certification upon hire
