This Phlebotomist role is vital for patient diagnoses and treatment, involving expert blood collection and specimen processing while ensuring the highest level of patient care.
Responsibilities
- Expertly obtain and process blood specimens via capillary or venipuncture
- Ensure integrity, proper disposal, and timely distribution of specimens to testing areas with special instructions
- Perform clerical duties while prioritizing patient comfort
- Practice positive patient identification at all times
- Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions
- Establish and maintain good communication within the department and with other hospital departments
- Comply with isolation and hand sanitization procedures
- Follow blood collection procedures, performing venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations
- Utilize appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adhere to appropriate volume requirements
- Perform Blood Bank collections, following written collection and banding procedures
- Maintain order and cleanliness of phlebotomy trays, stations and storage rooms
Requirements
- High School Graduate General Studies or High School GED General Studies
- Basic Life Support - CPR certification (within 90 days of hire)
- Precise clinical skills for blood collection and specimen handling
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
Qualifications
- High School Graduate (General Studies) or GED (General Studies)
Nice to Have
- 3 months phlebotomy experience in an acute care facility
- Phlebotomy Technician certification upon hire
