Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

This role is a patient-centric Pharmacy Technician position at Walgreens, where you will interact with customers, develop strong patient relationships, and assist pharmacists in various duties. The position is part of an "earn while you learn" apprenticeship program aimed at becoming a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy and other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging customers and patients, offering assistance, and resolving issues.
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy, under the supervision of the pharmacist.
• Perform duties as assigned including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, fill prescriptions, and check for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities.
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
