Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists in dispensing medication and providing patient-centric care, helping individuals build a career in healthcare through Walgreens' Pharmacy Technician Training Program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient/drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient/drug information and filling prescriptions
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to Quality Improvement Program policies
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services
• Assist Pharmacy Department with inventory management activities
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
