Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, interacting directly with customers and patients in a patient-centric environment. Utilize pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and support various Pharmacy Department operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
- Engage customers and patients, greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
- Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision, adhering to company policy and code of conduct
- Perform duties as assigned, including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, and verifying medications
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately
- Process sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required
- Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
- Process manual claims for third party program prescription services
- Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
- Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for discrepancies
- Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including sample collection (if required)
- Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community
- Ensure Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program
- Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits
- Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy
Requirements
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
Nice to Have
- Six months of experience in a retail environment
- Prior work experience with Walgreens
- Good math skills
- Good computer skills
- Knowledge of store inventory control
- PTCB certification
