Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, interacting directly with customers and patients in a patient-centric environment. Utilize pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and support various Pharmacy Department operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy under pharmacist supervision, adhering to company policy and code of conduct
• Perform duties as assigned, including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, and verifying medications
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately
• Process sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for discrepancies
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including sample collection (if required)
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing relationships with the local medical community
• Ensure Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program
• Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits
• Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
