Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

Assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical services, manage prescriptions and patient information, and deliver excellent customer experiences in a retail pharmacy setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for possible interactions
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
• Process (corrects and resubmits) manual claims for third party program prescription services
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for warehouse discrepancies
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB or ExCPT certification
