About This Role

Assist pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care by accurately preparing, storing, ordering, billing, labeling, and distributing medications in accordance with health system policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain stock supplies in the pharmacy and package medications under pharmacist supervision
  • Prepare IV and other medications using aseptic technique, ensuring accurate documentation, billing, labeling, compounding, and packaging
  • Prepare chemotherapy and handle blood products safely using appropriate equipment
  • Maintain and clean necessary equipment, reporting failures or repair needs immediately
  • Prepare and deliver a 24-hour supply of medication to patients daily, collecting discharged patient's medications for crediting
  • Maintain, prepare, and deliver floor stock medications to nursing units per department policy
  • Follow all policies and procedures for automated dispensing cabinets
  • Accurately place daily orders for medications and supplies, communicating potential supply issues
  • Verify inventory received against invoices, noting exceptions and communicating to supervisor
  • Stock shelves, rotating stock appropriately
  • Withdraw and prepare controlled substances for delivery, following policies and reporting discrepancies
  • Accurately bill and credit medication charges as necessary
  • Recommend changes to policies and procedures to the Pharmacy Manager

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Pharmacy Technician license through the Oregon Board of Pharmacy

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

Nice to Have

  • Six (6) months or more hospital pharmacy experience, or related field
  • Experience in medications, sterile technique, and computer skills
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician license (CPhT) through the Oregon Board of Pharmacy
  • National certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
