Pharmacy Technician

About This Role

A Pharmacy Technician is sought for a night shift contract position in a healthcare facility in Gardena, CA. The role involves preparing IV medications, filling automated dispensing cabinets, managing medication delivery, and handling pharmacy communications with a unique 5 on 5 off schedule.

Responsibilities

• Prepare intravenous (IV) medications, including IV piggybacks (IVPBs) and total parenteral nutrition (TPNs)
• Fill automated dispensing cabinets (Pyxis) accurately and efficiently
• Manage medication delivery to nursing units to ensure timely patient care
• Handle telephone communications for pharmacy inquiries and coordination
• Utilize order entry systems, with training in Allscripts/Paragon

Requirements

• Prior inpatient pharmacy technician experience
• Proficiency in preparing IV medications
• Management of automated dispensing systems (Pyxis)
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy workflows and adherence to safety protocols
• Ability to work independently during night shifts and maintain accuracy under pressure

Qualifications

• Prior inpatient pharmacy technician experience is required.

Nice to Have

• Experience with order entry software, preferably Allscripts/Paragon
