Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists, interacting with customers, and processing prescriptions in a patient-centric pharmacy environment. It supports career growth and development towards becoming a certified pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions accurately.
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive customer experience.
• Perform duties as assigned including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, and checking for interactions.
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to quality improvement programs.
• Adhere to company policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during prescription dispensing activities.
• Register sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash, and assist customers in locating products.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
• Assist with inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals.

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
