Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting the pharmacist in providing patient-centric care, managing pharmacy operations, and developing strong customer relationships. You will utilize pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and support inventory management, while also working towards Pharmacy Technician Certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues
• Perform duties including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, and verifying medications
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies
• Process sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties
• Assist and support the Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collecting blood/urine samples
• Assist Pharmacy Manager in developing relationships with the local medical community
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program
• Attend training and acquire continuing education credits to maintain knowledge and skills

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

• New to working in pharmacies or an experienced Pharmacy Technician; willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
